Project Summary

During the implementation of the project “The Deceptive Face of Plastic,” students of Prienai Žiburys Gymnasium conducted micro- and macroplastic pollution studies in the Nemunas River, other rivers in Prienai city, the Baltic Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea, as well as assessed water quality indicators. The students visited the Lithuanian Energy Institute and the Center for Physical and Technological Sciences, met with scientists from the University of Marseille, and deepened their understanding of research methodologies and their applications. Practical activities, research, and environmental cleanup actions were organized in Klaipėda. The research results were presented at conferences and to the local community. The project contributed to strengthening students’ environmental competencies, encouraged interest in science, and fostered responsibility and citizenship.
